Stay Stylish in Cold Weather with these Tips

Staying stylish in the winter can feel impossible, yes?  If you live in a cold locale, you may have to bundle up in multiple layers just to take a quick trip to the grocery store.  It’s simple math: the more clothes you wear, the bulkier you get, thus the marshmallow effect.  When I lived in Massachusetts, I usually wore long johns under my jeans, cuddle duds under my sweaters, and a puffer coat that went to my ankles was the final touch.

Was I warm?  Yes, and ultimately that was what I was most concerned about.  But did I feel stylish in all those clothes?  Nope, not in the least.  Feeling stylish=feeling confident.  When you feel good in your clothes, you then feel better in your own skin.  It’s not so much about looking trendy or fashionable, but loving yourself and feeling great.

So, how can we find a balance between keeping toasty and feeling satisfied with our appearance?  It’s not easy, but read ahead to find my favorite cold weather fashion tips!

I just stumbled across this Calvin Klein vest at TJ Maxx.  I find TONS of clothes and shoes there.  It’s one of my favorite stores!  This is such a warm vest.  You can see in the pic, there’s snow on the ground.  This girl is ALWAYS cold, but all I needed was a vest over my fleece shirt to stay perfectly warm!  My vest is, unfortunately, unavailable.  Find some other great options below!

This Patagonia Los Gatos vest gets awesome reviews!

Another popular brand.  Northface

I’ve always wanted a Barbour Beadnell jacket, but the vest looks awesome too.  It’s also a more budget-friendly option.

My Sorel boots (SO WARM):

The above coat is 3 years old and came from Costco.  It’s 1 Madison Expedition.  I get compliments on this coat ALLLL the time, and it is seriously warm.  I can’t even wear it in the car because it smothers me.  But outside, man is it perfect!  You can find a similar Anorak version here:

I also love this one:

Capes and wraps can be great for a warmer winter day, with temps in the 40s.  I also wear mine in the house a lot, since I’m always cold!

My cape is double-sided, and fyi, it’s on major sale right now!!  Find it here:

This one by Barefoot Dreams looks amazing:

OTK Boots

This is one of my favorite cold-weather styles!  I stay completely warm in OTK boots, and they add such a great dose of style to basically any outfit!

I am obsessed with my Nine West OTK boots!  They are sleek, stay up perfectly, and have a hidden platform for a height boost!

These boots also get great reviews and are extremely popular with fashion bloggers!

So, there you have it!  You can stay warm and stylish at the same time.  We have another month or so of winter here in Virginia, so I’ll be getting lots of use out of the above pieces.

Thanks, Allie! It’s usually not too cold here, but we’ve had some teen-something days here that have been brutal!

What a great post – I always struggle with staying stylish in cold weather, since I basically just want to wear five layers of thermals and then a ski jacket…
That faux-fur scarf is absolutely to die for. I’m definitely going to be looking out for a similar one in the UK because boy, I have so many white sweaters that would go so well with. Thank you for the idea!
Also these are such lovely pictures – you look so cosy and chic!

Thanks, Sophie! Scarves are a great way to mix it up a bit if you are tired of your winter clothing.
